We selected birch wood for an ideal balance of ease of lighting, clean burning, and efficient heat output. Its sweet and earthy aroma makes it ideal for home fires as well as its ability to light almost instantly. Birch is so good at lighting, it is often used as a firelighter. This makes our birch logs perfect for getting your room warm quickly on cold winter days or for your pizza ready to cook. 
 
Added to this, birch is a low sap wood leaving your chimney and fire cleaner than alternatives.
 
Kiln-dried
 
Our logs are specially kiln-dried, leaving them with less than a 15% moisture content and making them “ready to burn” certified. Low moisture logs are much quicker to light and produce much less smoke than non-dried firewood. 
 
For this intensive drying process, we start by cutting and splitting the wood to expose more surface area, allowing for a quicker drying process. From there, we stack the wood in a well-ventilated area and partially cover it, keeping the logs dry from rain but allowing them to air dry thoroughly.
 
We then wait up to 12 months for our birch to become thoroughly dry before exposing them to kilns for up to 10 hours, ensuring they are dry for your use.
 
Tips for burning birch firewood:
 
Stack your wood vertically, in a peaked tee-pee shape. Don’t pack it too tightly, you’ll need to leave enough space between to let the fire breathe. Place firelighters or paper in several places beneath the logs and light them in turn.

As birch burns quickly, we recommend pairing it with other firewood, such as Oak, to create longer-lasting fires.
